Can we make an electric guitar out of concrete? How would it sound? (Video)


Electric guitars and acoustic guitars are very different. Of course, there exist combinations of both, but a very basic electric guitar has a solid body (no vibrating soundboard), plus electric pickups – a type of signal transducers – used to capture the mechanical vibrations of strings.

This relatively simple principle of construction means that you can produce the body of an electric guitar basically out of any available material. So how about a guitar made from concrete? Would it work at all, and what about the quality of its sound?

Such experiment was actually done in real life by a youtuber who built a Strat-style guitar out of a regular concrete. Of course, this is not the best material to produce musical instruments, because you simply have to pack enough muscle to hold it securely in your hands. But the fact is that this guitar prototype works, and the sound quality is not bad at all. Watch the entire production process and the test of the final model in the video below:
